It's Not Another Psychological Thriller, But Apple TV+ Already Has A New Severance Replacement That Should Have Everybody Talking

Severance season 2 has sadly come to an end, but Apple TV+ already has a new show titled The Studio worth watching, which seems destined to become a major hit with subscribers. 2025 meant the return of a massively popular series, with Severance season 2 arriving after a three-year gap. Coming off the heels of another highly-anticipated follow-up season for Silo, Severance season 2 didn't miss a beat based on reviews. Now, Apple TV+ will look to carry that momentum with a brand-new comedy, The Studio, debuting less than a week after Severance season 2's ending.

When looking at the best shows on Apple TV+, it's clear that the streaming service has succeeded with sci-fi titles, like Severance, Silo, and For All Mankind, to name a few. That said, one of Apple TV+'s biggest releases to date came in the form of Ted Lasso, the Jason Sudeikis-led comedy-drama that debuted in 2020. Though Ted Lasso season 4 was recently confirmed, there have been other worthwhile comedies available on Apple TV+, such as Shrinking and Bad Monkey. Granted, The Studio might be the one to put on the top of your to-watch list.

The Studio Could Become Apple TV+'s Next Big Hit After Severance

Reviews For Seth Rogen's New Show Have Been Great

The Studio has all the makings of a hit for Apple TV+, making it the notable replacement option for Severance fans open to other genres. Seth Rogen co-created and stars in the Hollywood-centric comedy as the head of a major film studio, Matt Remick, during a time when the industry is facing many changes. Matt is just one of The Studio's entertaining characters, some of whom you won't be able to get enough of. There won't be mind-bending twists and turns like Severance, but The Studio's storytelling and comedic gags justify its 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As the industry struggles with the concept surrounding the difference between "movies" and "films," Rogen leads a fun behind-the-scenes look into Hollywood and the fast-paced inner workings of the studio executives keeping things afloat.

While film buffs may get the most out of The Studio, knowing the ins and outs of the industry, there are plenty of hilarious elements worth sticking around for even the most casual of viewers. As the industry struggles with the concept surrounding the difference between "movies" and "films," Rogen leads a fun behind-the-scenes look into Hollywood and the fast-paced inner workings of the studio executives keeping things afloat. Like Severance, it's the cast that truly pulls everything together for The Studio, especially the guest stars.

The New Apple TV+ Comedy Will Feature Many Stars Playing Themselves

Aside from Seth Rogen in a starring role, The Studio features core characters played by Ike Barinholtz, Catherine O'Hara, and Kathryn Hahn, all of whom play eccentric figures within the fictional Continental Studios. Rather than introduce fictional characters to portray Hollywood, Rogen's show goes all in by having real actors and directors appear as themselves in The Studio. Whereas Bryan Cranston hilariously appears as the studio's sleazy CEO, Griffin Mill, the show features cameos from names like Ron Howard, Paul Dano, Charlize Theron, Steve Buscemi, and even Severance's Adam Scott.

The Studio Review: I Laughed So Hard At Seth Rogen’s New Apple TV+ Show That It Felt Like They Made It Specifically For Me

I don’t think you have to follow the film industry to find The Studio funny, but if you do, this Apple TV+ comedy series is irresistible.

Though some appearances could be very brief, others might be involved in episodic gags, such as the case with Martin Scorsese's role in The Studio's premiere episode. The prolific director becomes attached to Matt's Kool-Aid movies before turning into a disaster that pokes fun at Scorsese's thoughts on cinema. Considering Scott's history with Apple TV+ through Severance, it would be great to see him in a fun cameo like Scorsese. Perhaps The Studio will also poke fun at Severance, creating a meta way to comment on the other show's continued success.
